Carrots

Here comes Peter Cottontail, hopping down the… sensory table. While we’ve loved using a mixture of green and yellow lentils and pink and purple beans for an Easter filler, these carrots at the farmers market were calling our names this week, both as a snack and for some play!

To set it up, I brought out our Boon drying rack, which brought back SO many memories of all the pump parts and bottles for the girls (and we’ve yet to use with Marin, ha!) I stuck the carrots in haphazardly, filled one side of the table with water, and included brushes, scissors, and a bowl on the other.

I thought it would be a great opportunity to get the girls in the sunshine, let them practice their scissor skills, and do some imaginative play. So many giggles once they figured they could use the greens to splash water on each other and so much meaningful sensory input. Could we have done this in the kitchen? Sure, but my early childhood motto is often, “Can this activity be done outside?” We had a gorgeous 75 degree day, so this was one of the few activities we brought outside!

This is actually one of the reasons I LOVE having a double-sided sensory table - there is so much more extending you can do! If you’re in the market as the weather heats up (Texas peeps), I’ve got a few I’d recommend like this one, this one, this one, or this one. But without hesitation, our Crate and Kids one linked above is worth every single penny and more! No regrets, outdoor friendly, easy on the eyes, so durable and simple!

Happy Easter season, friends.
