Eden,

Last April I started praying for you. I didn't know anything about you - when you would come, what you would be like, or if you'd even be a girl. As your Daddy and I were asking Jesus for you I overwhelmingly kept hearing your name and seeing you so tangibly - dreams, scripture, songs. After a week or so of this, I knew with unspeakable confidence that you were coming, so much so that I told a close friend soon after that we were going to have a baby girl and we were going to name her Eden. Eden means "delight" and Elize means "consecrated to the Lord." We know, my love, that you aren't ours to claim and we know you came only by the mercy and goodness of Jesus.

When we went to find out you and Emersyn's  genders, we waited in such anticipation. People would often ask us if we thought we knew what we were having. I would say with confidence that we were having at least one girl. In a dark, cramped room, we had a sweet promise fulfilled. "Baby A," our doctor announced, "is a girl." All I could say in a quiet breath was your name, "Eden." You were the baby I knew would come all along. And what a delight you already are! Love you BIG, little one.

“O send out Your light and Your truth, let them lead me; let them bring me to Your holy hill and to Your dwelling places. Then I will go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy and DELIGHT; and upon the lyre I shall praise You, O God.”
